Freestyle Reining Clinics

Freestyle is much more than turning on the MP3 player and riding. Great freestyles have a theme and are well choreographed to show off the horse’s strengths. NRHA Freestyle competitions now have their own score sheet and a formula for determining the final score. In addition to scoring the quality of the required maneuvers, there are optional “transitional” maneuvers, as well as the plus, 0, or minus scores for Artistic Impression (composed of four elements – choreography, originality, musicality, and presentation & balance), which can add to or subtract from your score – up to two points. Sue has a long history of entertaining audiences with many Freestyle wins on a variety of horses over the past 30 years. As a NRHA judge, she understands what judges want to see. Having a background in music and performance, she knows how to pick great music, spruce up the look, and choreograph the performance to entertain the audience and the judges.
